Small Business Administration

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is a federal agency committed to furthering the growth and development of small business nationwide. This agency was created in 1953 to help protect small business, and in turn help improve the overall welfare of our economy. The SBA includes multiple segments to support small businesses, including the SBA 7(a) loan program. This specific loan program assists businesses by guaranteeing a portion of their loan, which mitigates the lender’s potential risks with the loan request. The SBA guaranteed loan helps small businesses receive funds to purchase an existing business, expand their existing business with equipment financing and improvements, and purchase owner occupied real estate.

The Summit Bank Small Business Administration (SBA) Division participates with the SBA to provide small business loans that are structured under the SBA 7(a) guidelines. When a loan is guaranteed by the SBA, certain conditions are imposed on the lending institution in relation to how the lender must underwrite, structure, and service the loan.

Summit Bank is committed to small businesses and their growth as a vital part of our local economy. As a result, the Bank has created a division specializing in the SBA 7(a) loan program. We have a dedicated and specialized team that understands the specific details and requirements of the 7(a) program to effectively offer it to the local business community.
